STATION
, Germany 2004 / 2005, Short Documentary Film DV-Pal, 4:3, Color, Stereo, 14:52 min.

, 16 mm film transferred to HD Blue Ray, 20 min. loop. 2010, First part of Trilogy 1.

The film is set in an urban non-space in Berlin - an area with a few scattered pieces of discarded furniture. This in between space appears to operate on its own time, maintaining the stubborn calm of non- activity. A group of punks hang out in the darkness; they smoke and drink as their dogs roam free. A form of resistance is implied, the resistance residing within passivity. It is a vision containing both the echo from a recent past and temporally ambiguous vision of a dystopic time to come.

STATION, Germany 2004 / 2005, Short Documentary Film DV-Pal, 4:3, Color, Stereo, 14:52 min.
The documentary work entitled STATION shows an adolescent clique from the train station scene in Bochum – how it first meets at the train station and then together goes to someone’s house. There, one hangs out, listens to music and smokes weed. A rightist-rock band plays for a while, and one assumes to be confronted with rightist teenagers at their best. Shortly hereafter, the ambivalence of the situation becomes clear when one of the adolescents – the ‘leader’ – says, “...we’re leftist man, and are listenin’ to this fascist music […] I’ll put in somethin’ better. No fascist tunes, I can’t handle that right now. Later sure, but not now!” Skirmishes of this kind obviously serve more as a pastime than a serious dispute about ideological questions. What becomes clear, however, is the general lack of orientation.
The film shows the events in an almost casual manner, it does not comment or judge. The nearly imperceptible camera, which almost naturally accompanies the teenages, reveals hierarchies, behaviors and clique strutures.

»SORRY«
, 2011

In Stefan Panhans’ quite hypnotic video »Sorry« (2010) we see a somehow nightmarish, jam-packed train ride of a bunch of restless, tired and close- mouthed people looking like half- professional, contemporary celebrity lookalikes; among others, in company of lots of XXL-coffee-to-go cups, a ghost of a 1930’s dirndl, two police officers in full rig, a jogging zombie and the military. Appearing absent and wordless, they carry all sorts of strange luggage looking like remains of a departement store plundering and seem to follow certain unknown ritual rules until everything starts again. The situation seems surreal but, on the other hand, we recognize a lot of our contemporary reality in it.
